|School District No. 38 (Richmond) requires a full-time Speech-Language Pathologists to join our Learning Services Department on a temporary contract. Start date is immediate with the contract end date being June 30, 2017.
The speech/language pathologists will be required to serve elementary and secondary schools. Desirable knowledge and skills include collaborative consultation with members of the school based team, classroom/curriculum based intervention strategies for students with communication disorders, informal as well as standardized assessment practices, and involvement of parents in supporting their child’s development in communication. Individuals will be required to support students across a wide spectrum of needs including those with both high and low incidence disabilities. Providing consultation and assistance to teachers, educational assistants and parents is also a requirement of this position. Expertise and experience in designing and implementing programs for students with autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable. The ability to work comfortably and effectively in a dynamic and changing environment is essential. In addition to being well organized and capable of working independently, the successful applicant will possess skills in working as a member of a team at both the school and district levels. These skills include effective interpersonal communication when working in close collaboration with teachers, other professionals, paraprofessionals, parents and community members.
The successful applicant must be a registered member of the British Columbia College of Speech and Hearing Professionals.
