osns Child and Youth Development Centre is a vibrant, non-for-profit organization with a long history of providing early intervention clinical therapy and support services to children with developmental challenges and their families.
What we are looking for:
osns is seeking a summer student to work with young children in the South Okanagan and surrounding area. We are looking for an individual who loves working with children, has great play skills, is organized, responsible and dependable.
Children are busy and fast paced so are we. This role will give you the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, early childhood educators and family support workers. Every week of work will be different and you will navigate your way with enthusiasm, problem-solving skills and humour. Flexibility, curiosity, creativity, and multi-tasking are key abilities given the ever-evolving nature of our work in paediatrics.
What does the role entail?
Seeing children referred to physiotherapy, occupational therapy and/or speech language therapy in small groups.
Prep work for therapists, booking clients, organising, cleaning and tidying supplies, fabricating equipment, organising and printing handouts/reference materials and organising information in our database.
Engaging in positive daily communication and interactions with families to continually build meaningful relationships.
Attending staff meetings and other training as scheduled.
Full time student returning to school in the fall 2017 (must be under 30 years of age, as required by funding source).
Must be studying in a related field e.g. child development, health, rehabilitation, education, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech language therapy.
Experience working with preschool children an asset.
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to work independently.
Able to represent our Centres vision and values with spirit and professionalism.
Use of personal vehicle maybe required.
