Early Intervention Physiotherapist
Program: Early Intervention Services
Job Status: Full time 37.5 hrs. per week flex - Permanent
Pay Rate: Grid Level 16-P-PT ($44.05 - $52.82)
Hours of work: Monday to Friday Flex

Nature of Position
The Physiotherapist provides direct therapy services to children. They plan and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment appropriate to the child's health requirements, daily living environment and designed to help the child live, play and work with optimum physical functioning. The Physiotherapist uses and promotes a culturally safe, trauma informed, family centred approach to service. They provide consultation, assessment, intervention, and monitoring of skills in relation to development and optimizing positioning and function. Specific areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, seating and positioning, equipment prescription, and manual therapy techniques. Services are provided to children from birth to kindergarten entry and promote functional skills that contribute to inclusion and engagement in ways that are purposeful to the family. The Physiotherapist is a dedicated and knowledgeable member of a comprehensive organization wide support team including multi-disciplinary relationships with community partners. The Physiotherapist is familiar with and participates in ensuring that the strategic goals of the agency are met and oversee the performance outcomes for the program to support their achievement.
Job skills and abilities
•Well developed and thorough physical functioning diagnostic analysis skills
•Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver rehabilitative, curative therapies and training
•Demonstrated ability to mentor family members, teachers, etc. in determined strategies
•Demonstrated case coordination skills
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Proven ability to use personal computer and appropriate software effectively to complete the positions work on time. This includes at a minimum file management, e-mail, internet search, and word processing skills
•Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills
•Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of physiotherapy, child development, early intervention and the community living sector
•Good organization, time and general management skills
•Ability to participate as a member of a team
•Knowledge of community and professional resources for children and families
•Knowledge of the broader medical, social, educational and behavioural aspects of restricting conditions
Required Qualifications
•A master’s degree in physical therapy or equivalent as recognized by the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia
•Membership in good standing with the college of Physical Therapists of British Columbia
•Experience with children in early intervention (birth to school age) is an asset
•TB test
Requirements for Ongoing Employment
•Successful Criminal Record Check
•A valid WCB-approved First Aid Certificate (OFA Level 1)
•A valid WCB-approved Child Safe First Aid Certificate
•Successful candidate must have a valid BC driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
