Job Purpose
Join Our Team and Make a Lasting Impact in Indigenous Communities
Are you ready to transform lives and be part of something extraordinary? This unique position invites you to provide culturally informed physiotherapy services while immersing yourself in the traditions, values, and languages of Indigenous communities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary mobile team, you'll deliver care aboard a specially equipped therapy bus that brings healing directly to rural and remote First Nations communities around Williams Lake and throughout the Cariboo Local Service Area.
By honoring Indigenous ways of knowing and being, this role goes beyond traditional care, fostering trust, connection, and meaningful relationships that uphold the rich heritage of the communities we serve.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Forge Deep Connections
Build and nurture respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, and community partners. - Learn and Grow
Participate in experiential cultural learning and professional development focused on Cultural Competency and First Nations health. - Journey with Purpose
Travel to rural and remote First Nations communities, including occasional overnight stays, to ensure access to vital care. - Deliver Holistic Care
Provide culturally responsive physiotherapy services tailored to Indigenous children and youth. - Empower Families
Collaborate with families to create individualized care plans that reflect their cultural practices, values, and traditions. - Bridge Connections
Liaise with community resources such as schools, health centers, and Indigenous organizations to ensure seamless care. - Collaborate for Impact
Work alongside a multidisciplinary mobile team in partnership with Denisiqi Services Society and the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre to offer holistic support to children and youth. - Innovate and Adapt
Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity in service delivery. - Mentorship Opportunities
Access guidance and support from experienced physiotherapists while contributing your unique skills. - Maintain Professional Standards
Keep detailed records in line with Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre policies and College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C. standards. - Uphold Integrity
Recognize professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality while serving these vibrant communities.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
- Clear criminal record check with satisfactory results.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
