The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre is a community based organization providing innovative, strength based, family centered services to children, youth and their families on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Stó:lō and Nlaka’pamux peoples. We are located in the beautiful Fraser Valley, close to nature and city. Our work focuses on child development – supporting, advocating, and empowering children and families. We are currently seeking enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathologists who are interested in working with school-aged children and youth in full-time or part-time 10-month positions (FTE negotiable)
Position Summary
As a Private School Speech-Language Pathologist with the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre (FVCDC) you will be responsible for managing your caseload and utilizing evidence informed procedures to assess, plan and carry out speech-language programs either directly or through teachers, support staff or families. Our School S-LPs work collaboratively with childrens’ school support teams to determine the best array and intensity of services for children based on the goals being targeted and the resources available. Our school clinicians work on a 10 month on, 2 month off work schedule to compliment school operation times. They work out of our offices located in Chilliwack or Abbotsford and through these locations they offer services to private schools in these cities and in neighbouring communities.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC
- Experience working with children/youth as a student clinician or as a registered S-LP
- Education and experience working in Indigenous communities is an asset
- Ability to speak more than one language is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work
