Description
We're inviting like-minded clinicians to practice autonomously within a well-established pediatric occupational therapy practice in Powell River, BC. This opportunity is ideal for practitioners who value independence, collaborative relationships, and flexible, values-driven work—without the constraints of employment or a traditional clinic hierarchy.
Practitioners operate their own independent practice, setting their own schedules, caseloads, clinical focus, and fee structures, while benefiting from shared space, collegial support, and referral pathways within an interdisciplinary environment. This model is designed to support professional autonomy, sustainability, and meaningful work with children and families.
Why Powell River?
Powell River offers a rare combination of professional opportunity and exceptional quality of life. Situated on the Sunshine Coast, the community is known for its natural beauty, strong sense of connection, and access to ocean, forest, and mountain landscapes—all within a supportive, family-oriented town.
Professionally, there is a genuine need for child and family services, allowing clinicians to manage a fulfilling caseload quickly while making a tangible impact. For me, personally, Powell River offers:
-
A slower pace of life without sacrificing professional purpose
-
Short commutes and easy access to nature
-
A welcoming, community-minded environment for individuals and families
-
A strong appreciation for holistic, relationship-based care
This opportunity is well suited to clinicians seeking:
-
Autonomy without isolation
-
Flexibility and work-life balance
-
A collaborative, non-competitive practice environment
-
The chance to live and work in a community that values wellbeing, connection, and care
Candidates should preferably be Registered Autism Service Providers (RASP) or eligible to become RASP, given that the majority of clients access services through Autism Funding. Additional referrals come through School District programs (including PIE). The practice also serves Indigenous children and families and works in ways that prioritize cultural safety, relationship-building, and community connection. A smaller portion of the caseload includes private-pay clients. This mix allows clinicians to engage in meaningful, well-supported work while developing a caseload that reflects both community need and individual practice interests. The practice currently has a waitlist of approximately 25-30 clients, meaning a full caseload is immediately available for the right clinician.
