North Coast Community Services Society

In 1977, the Prince Rupert Children’s Group Home Society, a non-profit organization, was incorporated, establishing, maintaining and promoting programs for the purpose of the rehabilitation and social improvement of youth.  In 1981, the Society amalgamated with the Prince Rupert Community Enrichment Society to include the broader community and provide services to children, youth, adults and families in the City of Prince Rupert.  Programs and services offerings changed over the years, due to funding changes with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, Northern Health Authority, and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.

In 2015, North Coast Community Services was introduced, with two past employees creating the new logo's first draft.  NCCS became the “doing business as” operating name for the Prince Rupert Community Enrichment Society.  It was an exciting time within the Society, diversifying and expanding programs to ensure comprehensive services for infants, children, youth, adults and families are available in Prince Rupert and communities along the north coast.

In 2022, NCCS was awarded the Building Blocks Family Connection Centre contract.  The contract provides the opportunity to provide wrap around services for families with children and/or youth who have or may have support needs.  Service delivery area includes Prince Rupert, Port Edward, Haida Gwaii, Metlakatla, Gitga’at, Gitxaala and Lax Kw’alaams.  The focus of the contract is to incorporate creative approaches to offer physical and occupational therapies, speech and language services, behaviour supports, inclusive child care supports, child and youth care workers and family education and coaching.
